Intake form including a full feeding history to be filled out prior to visit
Lactation visit customized to you and your baby’s needs
Things we may cover during a visit include an oral function assessment to check for feeding issues, a weighted feed, pumping and bottle feeding, best infant feeding practices, normal newborn behaviors and more
Written care plan and text support for 1-2 weeks following the visit
Follow ups are a continuation of your initial visit. If you and your baby have never worked with Little Roots Lactation, please schedule an initial consultation. This visit can last up to 1.5 hours and is likely reimbursed by your insurance.

Continue support from previous visit or address things we didn’t get to the first time around
Address anything new that has come up since the previous visit

In-home visit from a registered nurse, board certified lactation consultant who has special training in bottle feeding and bottle refusals
Intake form including a full feeding history to be filled out prior to visit
Oral function assessment to check for feeding issues related to bottle feeding
Bottle recommendations
Oral exercises to work on at home as your baby learns to bottle feed
Written care plan and 2 weeks of follow up support via text or email
What NOT to expect:
A happy and fully bottle feeding baby by the end of the visit. This process takes time! If you urgently need your baby bottle feeding (ex, you can’t breastfeed due to surgery, hospitalization, returning to work within 72 hours), please contact me before booking
Latching/milk supply/other lactation support. These consults are shorter (up to 1.5 hours) and we want to make sure we are addressing the bottle specific questions. If you have questions around lactation in addition to bottle feeding, please instead book an initial consultation (up to 2 hours) so we have more time to address your concerns
This is typically a virtual consult and is sometimes reimbursed by insurance.

What to expect during this visit:
This is a popular visit for people who are intimidated by all things related to feeding a newborn, or someone who is confused about all these baby shower bottles/breastfeeding gifts, and don’t want to go in blind.
A prenatal consult is a great supplement to an infant feeding class and is a safe place to ask direct questions and come up with a plan that’s tailored to your specific needs.
We also love doing prenatal visits with veteran parents who didn’t meet their feeding goals the first time around and would like a game plan going into round 2 (or 3, or 4, or…).
